A briefing about me and my former life with depression:
I quit high paying job after job; I had the money and so-called job security but I still wasn't happy inside. I've been on food stamps, had sleepless nights that turned into days, gained tons of weight, self harmed, exuded reckless behavior, and had health issues that were leading to deadly illnesses.
I've been abused & in domestic violence relationships, slept in my car/motels/friend's houses, cried myself to sleep not knowing how I'd live another day. Tried to drink & smoke it away. I put on that smile of pretend in front of EVERYONE while I was having the darkest thoughts in my head.
I've run from depression and covered it up by taking a few extra vacations. I've applied for disability because of my depression. I've HAD A GUN TO MY HEAD on numerous occasions. And so much more...
I say all that to say, I've experienced depression HEAD ON, FULL THROTTLE, for YEARS. BUT, I didn't stop trying until I made it through!
